When glamorous Parisian courtesan Violetta meets earnest Alfredo, she dares to believe in a quieter life. She bankrolls their country idyll herself, trading soirées for sunlight and the fantasy of a future and family. But Alfredo’s father, Giorgio, has other plans, having made a cold calculation: Violetta’s past makes his daughter’s marriage impossible. This single intervention sets in motion all the tumultuous drama that follows: an emotionally charged tragedy about a great love that could have been that will leave you haunted.
